I don't mind the classification. The Beatles did so many exciting things that are still fresh to this day, they win easily. Which is not to say that some of the others (Hendrix! Purple! Bowie!) weren't good.

I just remind that Vangelis is incredibly "prog-related". I think it's because he has crossed every aspect of prog, from avant to symphonic through electronic.
Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

I almost didn't put the Beatles in the poll figuring it would have been a landslide. I wonder where their votes would have gone if they weren't here?

The fab four
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Sabbath because War Pigs/Sweet Leaf/Supernaut were super daring for its day. Bowie is always interesting, especially when Eno and Fripp were around. Jimi Hendrix really was great, if you don't think so listen to the 2 big songs on Band of Gypsys. I enjoy the first Queen album. The Who
Quadrophenia has its great moments.

All are great, went with Hendrix. As much as I probably play Sabbath the most, Hendrix is the more euphoric experience...yep, I am experienced.

Led Zeppelin for me, closely followed by The Beatles. Though I like stuff from them all.
