I voted for The Beatles and it's for many reasons.

The Beatles fusing their experimental tendencies with brilliant songwriting was admired by legions of musicians. This has been expressed by people like David Bowie, Robert Fripp, Brian Wilson and John McLaughlin for example.

I always admired albums like Revolver or The White Album blend of musical genres,  sound textures, interesting use of instruments, and use of the studio as a creative tool.

For example on Revolver you had string octet/vocals on "Eleanor Rigby",  drum & bass backing with a sound collage of tape loops "Tomorrow Never Knows" and the Classical Indian/Psychedelia fusion of "Love You To".

Albums like Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour,  The White Album and Abbey Road were a continuation of Rubber and Revolver.

Beatles are the best, in their genre.

King Crimson (and Van der Graaf) are my favourite prog group.

Pink Floyd and Who started from beat, like Beatles, but then their music became prog or operistic rock... and I love them very much so....

I can not vote!!!
I only know that Bowie is the last one for me.

I'm told I've already voted in this poll. I can remember loving The Beatles from when I was about five (but really no more than Elvis, ABBA or... Hollies), Pink Floyd from six... and I was introduced to Bowie when nine. But although discovering King Crimson almost a decade later than the latter artist - it would surprise me if I didn't give my vote to Fripp and his project. All four quite important but I've never really been on "a break" with KC 1969-1974 - and I think I'll continue listening to those seven albums for as long as I live. I know I'll keep spinning most of Pink Floyd 1967-1971 and Bowie's Berlin Trilogy++ too but not sure I'll ever spin a full Beatles album ever again.

The Who is alright but there's probably more than a thousand bands I'm more into than them.
