Pick your favorite R.E.M full length studio album (Chronic Town not included as it is an EP)

I'm going with Automatic For The People on the strength of Drive, Find The River, Try Not To Breathe, Nightswimming, Man On The Moon, etc.

Only have the 1st 5 (+ the 1987 rarities & B-side album, "Dead Letter Office" which includes Chronic Town) and love them all so it's really tough to choose a favorite. Going with Fables...just can't vote against Driver 8, Life and How to Live it, Kahoutek & Good Advices

I find surprising the lack of votes for Murmur and Reckoning

I'm giving Murmur the nod. The chorus to "Pilgrimage" is so good when the backing vocals join in. Plus, they had something interesting going on with "9-9". Quirkier and a little more jagged and interesting than their typical stuff. It would have been cool if they developed that style a bit more.
Reckoning and Automatic are my other favs.

Me too. Those are my favorites, gonna say Reckoning but they’re both superb. |
