The title says it all. I have heard several Magma tunes from their 1st and 2nd efforts, but I would like to take a more serious approach to getting into them, so if any of you have recommendations on where I should officially start, I would much appreciate your help.

and reason 2 to start with Kobaia.. this was a band that did not repeat and rinse after to album.. they mutated and changed stylistically yet was never mistaken for anything but being MAGMA..... follow the changes as they did them.. start with the first.. and move forward from there.

I'd recommend K.A. This album is quite accessible while retaining the Magma characteristics… and .

I'd start with MDK myself, just can't seem to get enough of that album. Or even Felicite thosz, just beautiful.

MDK. The definitive magma/zuehl album, in terms of sound.

K.A. or Emehntehtt-Re are also good ideas.

I'll say Live/Hhai - one of my faves, it has a fluidity that the studio stuff doesn't

Roll a 20-sided die. They're rock solid across their discography.

Micky is right in this one, first album is also my favourite, although love almost all of their albums. It was also the first that really hit me.

I agree with Micky. Start at the beginning and take it from there. Magma has a storyline both musically and as a conceptually + their debut is a masterpiece.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Kobia is my favorite album of theirs as well. Yeah, just start at the beginning and work up the discography. Honestly they are all worth hearing even if i don't like Merci or Attahk as much.
