^ neither had I, then again I haven't been around.
Obviously would have voted for the Cow.. a group that grown exponentially in my appreciation in recent years but that is a wasted vote since they are running away with it. so going with the Residents here...

I don't really get the total lack of love for The Residents - considering how relatively known they are (outside of PA - in the real world they have a bigger fanbase than both UZ and Henry Cow... combined). Ok so they've released tons of crap and only glimpses of greatness for the last 35 years - but their string of completely unique classics from their debut in 1974 (alternatively the Santa Dog EP from 1972) up to the mid-eighties is rivaled by none (except maybe Kraftwerk) in interestingness, innovation and progressiveness... They are not "prog" of course but that shouldn't matter in this context.
