In 2015 MartinDavey did a bunch of "Top 5" polls including "Top 5 Vocalists"--a post that is still getting hits to this day. As is my penchant, I thought I'd refresh the ask by seeking out PA members' Top 5 Male Vocalists from the 21st Century Bands (i.e. younger dudes; Female vocalists will be a separate post).

I'm doing my own (first) list right off the top of my head:

Alessio Calandriello (Athlantis, Not A Good Sign, La Coscienza di Zeno)
Marco Glühmann (Sylvan)
Ian Kenny (Karnivool)
Einar Solberg (Leprous)
Mariuz Duda (Riverside, Lunatic Soul)

Who are some of your faves?

I can't think of many, most of my recent albums are either instrumental or have minimal vocals, but Alessio Calandriello is one of my favourites. I never heard of Athlantis before, Power Metal suits him fine.

All worthy submissions! I love that TPE continues to remain anonymous--and, yes, he possesses a great voice!

Nice list! I'd considered Francesco, Ross, and Dave; am unfamiliar with Profusion and Druckfarben. Thanks!

Einar Solberg (Leprous)
Mariuz Duda (Riverside, Lunatic Soul)
David Longdon (Big Big Train)
Jim Grey (Caligula's Horse)
Mikael Akerfeldt's clean vocals  ( Opeth, Storm Corrosion)

I have so many modern Italian albums that I can't keep all the vocalists strait in my mindWink.  However, I'm sure at least one would crack my top 5.

Grey and Akerfeldt! Good ones! (I'd forgotten about both.) Thanks!

I'm not sure if he would actually be among my favourites, I would have to compare them better, but I have seen Devin Townsend hasn't been mentioned, and he indeed needs to be considered. I understand he has a great range, and besides that he is very versatile... the only vocalist that has actually made me like grunting and other extreme vocalizations, since they indeed fit the music and is not only a gimmick to annoy.

I don't care much for Davison in Yes, but he was fantastic on the Glass Hammer CD "Perilous!"
