Could well be, can’t decide between this and their debut.

Its an album I feel I should love more than I do. I will aways come back to the warmer, poetic and perhaps more art for art's sake-albums Legend and the sublime Unrest. To my ears Western Culture has a sort of "greyness" or something... I don't know its like I can hear and understand the attraction but somehow I don't "feel" the music - it doesn't get under my skin. Perhaps I just struggle with titles referencing chairman Mao.

Without a doubt, not only their personal best but one of avant-prog undisputed highlights.

Even if i prefer In Praise Of Learning, this album really goes to define Henry Cow at it's best and to present what the band can do to someone who isn't into RIO/Experimental music soo much.

One of my favorite albums, though I'd say all their albums are on near-equal footing.
