Hmmm. I was thinking about how I would structure this poll but screw it. Tongue
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Hi,

I don't play as much as I listen to it ... the changes between 3 countries in my young days, took away the option of learning how to play music and after that I was too busy in school and work to be able to learn anything ... even today, I have a hard time sitting and learning more about the synth or my bass.

It's bad, in that what I want to hear from the instruments is nowhere near the things I like, thus the instrument ends up taking a 2nd class status ...
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Listen .........., I did buy a reasonably priced acoustic guitar many many  years ago..but only learned to play chords and can follow along to some basic songs ...never learned to play any lead.

I listen...and play. But I don't have enough time and energy these days to do a lot.

While I do both (wouldn't work out very well if you played but never listened), I chose "play" because I'm much more interested in playing music than listening to it. Even when I listen to music, I usually picture myself as the performer rather than an audience member. Plus, listening to music isn't exactly practical when you're trying to practice.

Both, although I am merely a hobby harper.  I listen to a wide array of music.

Both. I jam fretless bass to most of my fave prog bands and tracks. It's meditative for me.

I like to pretend I'm the sixth member of the Eagles by playing along on electric guitar to their Hell Freezes Over DVD. I've got some way to go before I master Hotel California though.  Smile

Quite many years I have listened much more than played, but chose both because I still play at least one time a week.

Mostly listen these days; I was always a rather pedestrian and basic guitarist and bassist (mainly because I couldn't be bothered to put the time in) but always got a lot of joy out of doing  clonka-plonka-clonka basslines on my old Rick copy ;)

Songster is an amazing resource for learning how to play KC material on guitar or bass, dudes. I've learned Red, 21st, Easy Money, One more Red Nightmare, etc. in the last three days.

Both, but because there are only so many hours in a day, I listen to myself more than anyone else. Of course things like this always depend on the particular day in question. I generally improvise my own material, rather learn other people’s songs.
