And, with this kind of reasoning:

On my general music site, there were only two prog sub-genres (Progressive Rock & Neo Prog), but obviously with a specialist music site such as ProgArchives, there's scope to include many more sub-genres of prog, which is a good thing, although even to this day, I still think of Porcupine Tree as a Neo Prog band. Wink

Not symphonic prog. Crossover? Prog Related?
I know that probably everyone will get mad at me but maybe Neo Prog?

Well they came before neo-prog so I think it would have to be pre-neo prog conception!
Add that one to the PA archives! LOL

I missed this post...and the 'bikini babes'....where are they?
Cool

Regarding the system here.,,,,,i think it would be even more confusing than it already is,  if it was done albums by genre type.

One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

Yeah, I mentioned the idea of "proto-neo-prog" a while ago on some thread. I think it was in reference to Trick of the Tail. Sort of as a joke of course, though I do think that album sort of set the stage for things to come. In any case, I think Drama actually could have been labelled as a neo prog album if it came from a different band. And Duke I'd place somewhere between neo and crossover.

After that, they'd be Prog Related (until Yes returned to their whole cosmic symph thing).

^I've heard "and then there were three" referred to as possibly the first neo prog album as well although I agree "trick of the tail" could also be a possible option as could early Saga.
