Hi everyone,

As I am supposed to do, I introduce myself. Great Dream Theater fan, I went to see them in Montreal during the amazing Gigantour. I also listen to many other groups, progressive or not. Here is a short list

Dream Theater
Symphony X
Ayreon
Judas Priest
Liquid Tension Experiment (if you call it a group)
Anthrax
Blind Guardian
Children Of Bodom
Disillusion
Nevermore
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Cryptopsy
The Black Dahlia Murder
Metallica
Alogia
Nightwish
Opeth
System Of A Down
Slipknot
Pink Floyd
Stratovarius

Please note that the groups are in no particular order, except for the three first wich are my top 3. All types confounded.
It's been about half a year I'm in metal and I love it. Again, thanks to everyone for accepting me in this elitist community of Prog Lovers!

Hi, and welcome!

Although I'm also new to this site, I'm definitely not new to metal!

If you like Cryptopsy, you have to check out Decrepit Birth, Origin, and Job For A Cowboy! Plus, Suffocation, if you haven't already.

Also, here are some bands from my own introduction:

"Greetings.

I listen to most types of metal, such as prog metal, power metal, extreme metal, and more.

Some bands/artists I've been recently enjoying include:

Pain of Salvation
Porcupine Tree
Esqarial
Spiral Architect
Killswitch Engage
Dragon Force
Nephasth ->http://www.empire-records.com.pl/mp3/nephasth-hateearth .mp3
Cryptopsy
Decrepit Birth
As I Lay Dying
Job For A Cowboy ->http://www.myspace.com/jobforacowboy, http://jfacmetal.com/
Superior
At The Gates
Discordance Axis
Origin ->www.origin-site.com/
Opeth
Suffocation
Symphony X
Mayadome
Zero Hour
Maiden
Priest
Yngwie
Ciryam
Angra
Vanden Plas

I included several links just in case anyone is interested.

Please feel free to add me as a buddy and we'll chat.

Later, all."

If you want to really immerse yourself here you may need to branch out from Prog Metal...

Anyway, welcome and enjoy yourself!

Hi!

I would also recommend that you either explore 70s prog for a while ... Yes, Camel, Gentle Giant, VdGG (if you're feeling adventurous). Another easy access point would be the 90s prog bands - Echolyn, Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings. If you don't mind weird music, you can also check out the heavy Avant-Prog bands like Fantomas, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Mr. Bungle.

Have fun!

I agree with branching out into different genres.

Although groups such as Camel, King Crimson, and Yes may not be in my "top 10", I have learned from them and I definitely appreciate their music.

Rock on,
