Question: how is it that the archives has fusion bands such as Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Weather Report, Brand X, and Frank Zappa, but doesn't have one of the most successful, influential, and long-lasting artists of the genre? I don't think there can be any doubt that Pat Metheny's music is fusion, and it also has a good deal of prog: the PMG's latest album "The Way Up," for example, is a 68-minute intricate composition with complex harmonies and time signatures. He's recorded many, many types of music, from movie scores to hardcore jazz trios to the pretty shocking (and admittedly pretty tasteless) "Zero Tolerance for Silence." Pat Metheny is one of the most talented and most influential guitarists of the past 30 years, and he qualifies more to be in the archives than 99% of the bands that are constantly being suggested. So why not put Pat Metheny, or at least the Pat Metheny Group, in the archives?
The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe.

*bump*

Come on, surely SOMEONE on this message board knows Metheny.

The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe.

Agreed. Literally one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He's got some sick jazz stuff, but it's pretty obvious some is fusion and so on. I gotta say, I love "Last Train Home".

He battles against Meshuggah as my greatest discovery, thanks to ProgArchives.
