Nice topic.. I love GOOD ambient music. just listened
Steve roach-magnificent void. some of my favourite ambient albums are

Biosphere- substrata, shenzhou

stars of the lid- the tired sounds of stars of lid

Loscil- submers

Sleep research facility- nostromo

Mika vainio- kantamoinen

i have heard some lustmord's and thomas koner works, have to check out pete namlook also. It's a shame that many people think ambient means new-age music, that bothers me. There are REAL ambient artist's who make music for listening not for joga.. truly under-rated music..

Matti, I also recommend music of Raison D'etre and his projects - Atomine Elektrine, Necrophorus and Stratvm Terror.

Biosphere and Stars of the lid are fantastic!

Pete Namlook co-operate with Klaus Schulze and they create amazing albums "Dark Side Of The Moog" (part 1-10)

Regards

How bout Pazuzu?  Or are they considered dark wave?
Improvement makes straight roads, but the crooked roads without improvement, are roads of genius.

And of course if you´re looking for ambient music made by a icon of progressive rock try

Aspirant Sunrise, Aspirant Sunset and Aspirant Sunshadows by Rick Wakeman

I like a band called Cusco .. i think is ambient and new age or something like that
