Just picked up as an import through Amazon UK Jack Irons' Attention Dimension - one sample on tonight's radio show - because I had read of the presence of Les Claypool (on a nice Floyd cover)and Flea on a couple of tracks (just about indistinguishable). An interesting album by the former drummer of RHCP and Pearl Jam, with a handful of semi-prog tunes and a 3 or so lengthy work outs in which Irons demonstrates a range of world percussion styles in a rock context (Carribean, gamlan, etc.) - i.e. these tracks sound like percussive symphonic rock. Like albums by a couple of other rock drummers, Irons is showing he has been seriously studying (probably at an academic level) drumming and percussion across the broadest range of styles. There is a hint of originality but....... Both former Living Colour  Will Calhoun's (Enja Records release of last autumn) Native Land (a CD and DVD combined), and Ander Johansson more abstract and  precise, Black Page school of heavy drumming blend variously with a large variety of world percussion styles on Red Shift (Heptagon Records in the mid 90's), provide a greater degree of depth and repeated listening pleasure .

Hey I know him!

Im fan of Pearl jam, and i like his style, but cameron's is better. I did not know he had solo albums! But for now I'm stickin' to prog.

Now got the album. With an interesting Floyd cover (Eddie Vedder on vocals) and especially the development heard thru' the 3 or 4 longer tracks, it says largely 'prog' to me - if you find it going cheap, I suggest Attention Dimension  is worth the risk, unheard.

Cameron has recorded with both, as well as with (among others) Skinyard and Wellwater Conspiracy, as well as Geddy Lee's solo album "My Favorite Headache"
