EVIL WINGS had been already founded in 1989 but their first album was released in 1994. I can remember of a pretty tricky Prog-Metal stuff, which seemed to be inspired by RUSH, DREAM THEATER or WATCHTOWER. In a technical view, the debut had been a class of its own and the band assured a good reputation in the underground! The second disc named "Brightleaf" released in 1996. The proggy factor had been slowed down a bit and that leads to more melodies in their sound. Also, one could listen to a bigger Hard Rock touch. After taking part in a DREAM THEATER tribute album with the song "A Fortune In Lies", which was covered killerlike, they released their third album "Colors Of The New World". With their new output "Kite", there is a pretty matured band presented, which have control about their songs, in spite of technical demands and complex details. Midwhile EVIL WINGS play in the first Prog-League and will pretty please fans of ENCHANT and TILES as well as fans of the big ones like RUSH, YES or DREAM THEATER. They have superb ideas and the songs have also some soul, apart of sterilely Prog. It's a well-made symbiosis of straight Hard Rock/Metal with complex Prog touch. Everything is fine, the vocals as well as the production! EVIL WINGS are Italy's greatest hopefuls in Prog stuff!

Evil Wings was first formed in 1989 but their debut-Cd came out in 1994. The record, a successfull blend of progressive melodies and technically sophisticated metal riffs, was very successful, thanks especially to the great reviews it got in the specialized magazines worldwide. Meanwhile, the band began doing live shows, appearing at several festival and concerts. Thanks to their original mix of showmanship and technique, perfected during its live shows, Evil Wings achieved cult status among fans of Prog Metal, acquiring numerous enthusiastic followers.
The eagerly-awaited second opus, entitled "Brightleaf," was released in the summer of '96. The band's music was moving toward a more hard-rock style but still remaining true to its Progressive roots.
In 1998, the italian band began its relationship with the newly-formed Adrenaline Records. First, the Band cut a cover of "A Fortune In Lies" which leads off the double Cd "Voices - A Tribute to Dream Theater." Mike Portnoy, the drummer of the world-famous American band, is enthusiastic of the result.
In September 1999 finally their 3rd release titled "Colors Of The New World" is out. The band shift gears, musically, and while still reflecting their progressive origins and the classic '70s sound, the song structure becomes more melodic. With pieces like "Colors Of The New World," "Flowers" and "Searchin'," Evil Wings ranks up there with classic bands such as RUSH, TRIUMPH and KING's X.
Technical bravura (though far from absent) is now used to support the melody. After the release of the album long-time bassist Giovanni Bellosi leave the band due to personal committments and 6-string wizard Richie Zanardo come aboard.
With the new album "Kite," out shortly after the Summer 2001, the incredible mix among melody, musical tecnique and strong songwriting goes further. "Kite" features a fresh and innovative band who will surprise many people!
