This is taken from the Anathema official site:

Greetings to all...

Here we present a brand new anathema song called 'everything'.

It has been recorded and mixed by the band, independent of any record company.

We decided to give this song directly to the public as soon as it was finished, as a thank you to all those people who have kept faith with anathema and what we are doing.

Anathema presently has no record deal.

For this reason we have included a DONATE OPTION, where you can help the band by donating a small amount to the process of recording this new record.

In return, we will present more songs for you to download over the coming weeks and months. These versions will be exclusive and not available anywhere else.

Here is an opportunity for people to support a band directly, instead of filling the pockets of anonymous businessmen.

The sentiment of this song is one of hope. Of truth. We are very proud of it. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

with respect from ANATHEMA

...to be continued...

EVERYTHING

Needed time to clear my mind

breathe the free air find some peace there

I used to keep my heart in jail

but the choice was love or fear of pain and

I...

chose...

love...

cos everything is energy and energy is you and me...

Light shines in through an open window

shines inside your heart and soul and

light will guide your way through time

and love will help you heal your mind and

life...

will...

be..

cos everything is energy and energy is you and me...

They should sell the track on www.emusic.com, or even Napster.

Thank you Avestin, you were ahead of me this time!

Anathema needs and deserves MORE ATTENTION. As an 'early adopter', I happen to be of the opinion that this song may not match the quality of their earlier work (i.e. Judgement), but it may surely be appealing to the majority of PA-visitors.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Jesus never managed to figure out the theremin either

second hearing: it's quite good, but a bit commercialised like coldplay, radiohead style

not dissapointing though...

How can you possibly call Radiohead "commercialized"? They're about as anti-commercial as you can get. Interestingly they - together with Tool - are one of the few commercially successful progressive bands which actually aren't compromising their artistic integrity.

I think Aapatsos meant to say with 'commercialized' not that Radiohead is commercial per sé, but rather that Anathema adjusted their musical course in a somewhat more commercial direction - indeed rather resembling Coldplay/Radiohead, and as those bands have HUGE selling albums, one may regard that as 'commercial'.  After all, 'commercial' in a strict sense only means: selling well.

But I may be wrong here... Aapatsos?

many thanks for the link Avestin!Smile Forgot a bit about them I've to admit. Now I know why there wasn't anything new from them since 3 years. The song sounds nice, beautiful, even good I'd say at least for someone who never listened their better stuff like Judgement and ALternative 4. BUt for a never to be satisfied proghole like myself really nothing special at all. I could imagine it to be a quite successful airplay tune if they manage to sell it on the market. For the mentioned comparisons - Coldplay/Radiohead: yes, not that far way - POS: definetely no way neither in style nor quality. I happen to know all their releases starting right from their death metal days and I always considered them as a good but in fact not VERY good or excellent band. Seen them last year as a support for PT in my town. The concert was okay, but as well not really great and it became quite obvious why they're not as popular as PT (who I don't consider as a great band neither). Compared to them they appeared rather like a better College band (no insult to the band intended by this comparison!). Meanwhile newer bands betting on the same horse like them (i.e. Riverside) are almost better known and more popular which must be a bit frustrating for them I can imagine. Anyway they had good ideas and could be considered as one of the precursors for that specific Post-(Emo)-Metal ??? style, whatever you like to call it since it can't be defined as Metal really. I wish them good luck for their future as a band but if they continue with stuff like that song I doubt that I'd support them too much.Wink
To be prog or not to be, that's not the question!

I checked this band out after seeing Antennas' signature ... the new song on their site is pretty damn good.

Thanks Antennas =]
