I noticed that American television has changed a bit. It seems like there is more flags in advertising. More characters in prime time dramas are military, former military or related to military people. No plot involving a firefighter can go without mentioning 911. There's nothing wrong with it, really, it sometimes makes for awkward dialogue in an otherwise great drama.
In Canada, it seems our patriotism mostly centres around important hockey games. I've been to several concerts where the the band gets everyone going by mentioning how great this country is, probably because their music can't generate excitement, I guess.
Its funny how Canadian patriotism/nationalism/jingoism is sometimes linked to a long rant over what is wrong with this country and how the government is running us into the ground and usually at a Tim Horton's. (you got that right. you betcha. tell me about it. Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah)
