As a fan of experimental electronic music, particularly of the pioneering composers and the amazing 1960s groups like the Silver Apples and White Noise, 1970s/80s groups like Cabaret Voltaire and so on, I feel a thread dedicated to this exceptionally progressive and often overlooked branch of art music is long overdue - or else I missed it

I haven't watched it yet but I take it this video isn't a recording of them live?

I "saw" them earlier this year somewhere close to tower bridge (the name of the place escapes me at present).
They never went on stage until approx. 12 midnight and even then the stage was in total darkness :(
so still never actually saw them, interesting night never the less.

BTW, Nag Nag Nag by the cabs is one of my favorite singles :)

No - the video is a very clever computer algorithm that takes an object and manipulates it precisely to every nuance in the music.

I had a similar idea when I was at college - but unfortunately in 1992 I couldn't get the graphics or music processing horsepower necessary to do anything like this. We had a VAX that filled a room and had 1Gb hard disk space. Windows 3.1 was a very new thing, and a typical PC had a 20Mb hard disk and 4Mb RAM.

My own computer as a student required several bags of hamster food a month to keep the wheel spinning, the elastic bands needed replacing every week, and new leads in the pencils every time you used it.

But you tell young people that now and they don't believe you.

For some really weird experimental electronica, check out Jean-Michel Jarre's first album "Deserted Palace" (not available on CD, but you can find it on LimeWire etc. sometimes).
