In case anyone has not heard Immortal will be reuniting!!!

“I didn’t really want to say it, but I don’t give a s***. We will come back, stronger than ever. I’ve met with Horgh for the first time in over a year. He’s built his new house here, right around the corner. In the next few days we will begin to rehearse our old ‘Blizzard Beasts’ classics. I’m already really hot on the idea.”
  - Abbath in an interview for a German metal magazine

I personally think this is great news, even though I doubt they will do anything groundbreaking.
Anyone have any comments?
If anyone knows where I can get a copy of some Flute and Voice (Indo-Prog/Raga Rock) albums please PM me! Many thanks!

Yep. It's true.

I'm hoping to see them live in the future. Not really looking forward to new albums though.

Great news, as much as I love band I hope they'll move towards more progressive sound, intricate riffs and overall music complexity.

Vocalist is terrible live, as i've seen in some videos. I like "Demned In Black" album of Immortal a lot...

They actually tried to be progressive, but failed miserably(see the last three albums). Still a great band, lots of fun.

^Can't say I agree with that. They changed their style into more technical black/death. They never tried to be prog.

I am pretty sure Abbath once said that Tyrants and Antarctica(was that the name?)from the last album were meant to be prog/post-black songs. They're hardly either.

By the way, what's up with the I project Abbath and other Immortal guys were into? I'd rather hear a new album from these guys instead of knowing that they will play Blizzard Beasts somewhere far away from me.

I disagree with ivansfrost either. I thought they succeed at moving towards more technical and complex sound.

The new project is called "I" and they're working on their debut album. Probably that'll be released sometime next year, I'm not sure.

That's really really cool news. I love tr00 kvlt black metal as much as anyone, but I honestly did think their strong suit was 'At the Heart of Winter' through 'Sons of Northern Darkness', with the style really reaching a peak on songs like 'Triumph', 'Tragedies Blows at Horizon', 'Sons of Northern Darkness', 'Beyond the North Waves'...

I wish I would have seen them live, it would have been worth it just to see Horgh's insanely tight drumming..

It's fantastic news.

Immortal are awesomely atmospheric.

I think Abbath has an excellent live voice and here's proof

They are good live, I downloaded a video of them playing live and they were both experienced musicians on stage and also showmen. It's just that they have been forced to release live albums that are unlistenable and horrible in quality that people might get the wrong impressions from...

No idea, if their last three albums could be considered as prog, but they definitely kick ass. On "At The Heart Of Winter" every songpart directly fits into the next one. I now hardly any other black metal band which has such a groove. Yeah, Horgh is a great drummer.

The video is live, however audio is most probably (i am almost certain)not. I've seen lots of their live videos, Abbath is the most terrible live vocal i've ever seen. (After the vocalist of Demoniac). Immortal can not attain such guitar tones live, and of course the vocal; trust me Wink

I've seen them live once and they were pretty bad. Not entirely their fault, they were somewhat plagued by technical problems... I like some of their stuph, but I don't listen to it very much anymore.
