They composed a lot of complex long, epic, intelligent and carefully structured songs, incorporating classical and symphonic elements in them (especially on the last albums).

They recorded the 1st 100% progressive metal concept album? The one you posted 3rd?

You cannot deny the progressiveness of that one. Queensryche where not the 1st band to do that...Angry

Which one would you choose?

From your list I love those 3:
Remember Tomorrow
To Tame a Land
Afraid To Shoot Strangers

But there is one Maiden song which I absolutely love - Infinite Dreams from 7th Son...

Ghost Rider, join our little crusade!!!! Some people already wanna force maiden in here (including myself and Maidenrulez/Lindsay Lohan).

If Nightwish, Deep Purple, Queensryche and Queen are here... So must Maiden!!!Angry
Maiden had a far bigger influence on modern prog metal than Queensryche!!!

YEEEEESSSS! Scream for me, ProgArchives!LOL

Of course I'm 100% with you in this crusade... and don't get me started on Nightwish or the godawful Blind Guardian!Dead

That said, it seems their next album is going to be their proggiest yet (the cover artwork is quite stunning BTW). It's going to be out in early September - and I've already got the ticket for their December 3 gig in Milan! Great early birthday present for me (I was born 10 days before Christmas)...Wink

Ah, and I agree 100% about what you answered MysticFred... They did it before Queensryche, and at least as well as they did!

I couldn't agree more.... I can't fathom some of the inclusions into PM yet Iron Maiden is not....  If any of you all are listening... let's correct a correctable oversite..  get Iron Maiden where it belongs here.

Easy for me: Wasted Years. Somewhere in Time is one of my favourite Maiden albums along with Seventh Son of the Seventh Son.

Same here, except I voted for Afraid to shoot Strangers... One of the best songs on FOTD.
