I heard about this band on this site on a  thread, and was captivated by the cover art of In the Reains, the EP with Calexico.  What kind of music does this band play?  Is it Indie? Is it Folk?   This band seems to have a lot of potential, however, I do not know where to start.  Our Endless Numbered Days  perhaps?

Suggestions?

YESSS!!!

Iron & Wine is almost a one-man band (acoustic guitar&voice) with small help from outside; the music could be called lo-fi folk, even if the sound improvement between first and second album is huge, first album was sort of a demo, but with "Our Endless Numbered Days" you really can't go wrong..

Beautiful melodies, haunting atmospheres, really great songs; be sure to get the european edition that contains a bonus 4 track ep, it is worth the money  just for the last track, an umbelievable demo that, incredibly, didn't make the final cut!

tortellino sums it up quite nicely. I've only heard Our Endless Numbered Days, and it's pretty good. I would describe it as lo-fi indie folk - if such thing exists, that is. Worth checking out, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Great music. I suggest Our Endless Numbered Days. If you like that, you may want to check out his most recent release, an EP, Woman King. He adds some auxiliary percussion to the acoustic instruments (not always just acoustic guitar), and there's also The Creek Drank the Cradle, which was his first release, and is more on the lo-fi, stripped-down side. Very good songwriting on all three though.
