Would you consider Deadsy to be a progressive band? I know the members do, but I was just wondering what the prog fan community thought of them. Listen to both albums to get a really good idea of their musical style. Just listening to one isn't going to cut it.

This is the band with Greg Allman's son in, isn't it?

I've yet to hear them, but was interested because of the Allman link.  What are they like?

Dude, I love this band! It's crazy you mentioned them because I was just thinking about them when I saw this as the first thread on the forum. "Mansion World" is an incredible song (the synth part that starts around 3:26 is so awesome, it reminds me of the background music from the Dennis the Menace Game Boy game....random I know, but awesome).

They definately have progressive tendencies, as well as abstract-ish lyrics you'd expect on a prog album. They covered "Tom Sawyer" on their debut album as well, so I'm guessing they're prog fans. They sound kind of like a combination of "Untouchables"-era Korn, classic 80s new wave, goth, and prog.

Once upon, and once up high
A dandy dream, what means to die?
Things to come, as life goes by
The core of human equation
Tetragram presents the sign
A sign to save your eyes
Turn around, I'd like to know you
Everywhere and every why
The answer lay beyond the sky
Pass through the seven satellites pass on to the place we go to
(Learn to read!)
To rhyme, to count your primes
An earthly education
(Climb A Tree!)

Every band has a song that really sucks. Rush had "I Think I'm Going Bald," for example. Deadsy's suck song is "Itsy Bitsy Titsy Girl." They were f***ing 19 when they wrote it. They're more mature now, and it shows in the simplexity of their instrumentals and their philosophical lyrics:

And as the perfect wings will glide
Cleansed are men of all the mice
Past the pain we tend to strive
Or that's how it seems to beginners.

Accept awards throughout our lives
To make young lovers intertwine
Perhaps the end will come tonight
So hooray for the winners.

Or how about this?

In a mansion world, the roles reverse
A slave becomes a master
On a mansion world, the souls converse
And life moves a little faster
We unify the universe to arrive in the ever after
In a mansion world, I might like to know you
New Urantia girl, everything's below you

Now THOSE are some Deadsy lyrics.
