Now there's another electronica sub-genre which sounds pretty good to me - nu jazz:

Just looking at this list...good stuff! I've not heard anywhere near to all of it, but the following are some of my recommended ambient (in addition to the three mentioned above): - Brian Eno: On Land - Steve Roach: The Magnificient Void - Robert Rich: Bestiary - Rich & Lustmord: Stalker - Tangerine Dream: Zeit - Robert Fripp: A Blessing of Tears - Lustmord: Heresy - David Sylvian: Approaching Silence - Sylvian & Czukay: Plight and Premonition - Vir Unis: The Drift Inside - Delerium: Spheres - Aphex Twin: Selected Ambient Works II - Autechre: Amber - Coil: Musick to Play in the Dark - Zoar: In the Bloodlit Dark - Alio Die & Nick Parkin: Aquam Metallicum Well...guess I had better stop and go check out Underworld (how have I missed them?). Have fun! |

dammit!!! i have been gettin obsessed w Ambient again after this thread......dug up my Biosphere 'Substrata' and its really one of the most beautiful evocative ambient works ever!!!! no wonder its no1 in the worldwide polls of top Ambient albums...... As for nujazz, another interesting artist to check out would be Wibutee (their album 8 Domestic Challenges is jazztronica at its chilled finest), as well as stuff released on Norway's Jazzland label (which Wibutee is on).

I think this guy is really good. I wouldn't say he's popular, but he produces really good stuff. I think he might be especially interesting for PA members because he was trained in classical composition (PhD from harvard yet..). http://www.myspace.com/djdubble8 Edited by SolariS - September 11 2006 at 20:48 |
