Why this band is not listed in Prog Archives? They are amazing!! Mats Oberg is a blind virtuoso keyboardist and Morgan Agren (the "extravaganza drummer") is  outstanding and original. You can know about him for his work with Frank Zappa (who heavily influenced his music) or Frederik Thordendhal (meshuggah)

Here you have some videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjinwnyZgnE here you can see them playing the Pastorius song "Chicken" and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40Hp4AoUNcE you have Morgan Agren playing the Sol Niger Within medley, both songs featured in their last cd "ON AIR WITH GUESTS"

Whats your opinion about this band? I cant believe that they are not in PA!

I remember that Mats & Morgan appeared on swedish educational television, UR, some years ago. It was a program where Mats Ågren learned how to play drums.

One of my friends had this taped on VHS and we saw all the "episodes" one evening.
At the start and end of each program Mats & Morgan would do a gig with guest musicians, among others Spoonman and Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah. I'm not sure if also A.C.T. played with them.
Mats Ågren would then show some tricks on the drums and after that recommend some albums from i.e. Frank Zappa, Bill Bruford and U.K.

More recently Morgan Öberg appeared in a swedish show called "Musikministeriet" which dealt with differnt myths in music etc. Together with a female singer (Don't remember her name.) he fused different pop songs into one and impersonated some artists (quite good actually); Michael Jackson and swedish blues and reagge artist Peps Persson.

Mats & Morgan is definitely worth an inclusion on PA.

Welcome & thanks for the footage.

We had a rave about Mats Morgan this time last year, after the release of their excellent album Thanks For Flying With Us (Cuneiform Records). After hard searching managed to find 3 other of their earlier albums.

Any idea if the Beefheart tribute they perform on is still available?

As a point of information: newbies can add bands any time you like  and you don't have to leave to others, see bands additions information.

I cannot believe that M&M are not in the Archives yet!!!

This glaring omission must be remedied to.

I think Dick is thinking that newbies can add albums to artistes already included, but he may be confused with the artistes entry page that only collabs can add.

Actually I was thinking with the sheer backlog of possible artist additions still to be done, that it might be possible for anybody with the necessary enthusiasm to compile a biog/discography, and with a collaborator's help get the info posted.  Clearly anybody keen to write such a thing up, should first identify & contact a collaborator, and realise the collaboratort might take an editorial role; subsequently the collaborator should ensure the author gets full acknowledgment for their efforts.

Ok Dick,I understand.

I have done the same thing on occasion.Had a member contact me about a band on our addition list, provide the bio(which I edit if need be, submit and credit them for),and after the addition they do the disco.

It's nice to have that offer of help sometimes.

I had a thought. (I've not checked if MM are up yet) but Morgan does response to e.mails, so I'm proposing writing and asking him for an "autobiography" - which will therefore be artist approved - and a full discography.

In the meanwhile catching up on the perphiral MM activities: just got Morgan's brother Jimmy Agren's Glass Finger Ghost album, with various contributions for Mats Morgan. The stripped down nature of the music suggests Beefheart blues interpreted by White Stripe or Black Keys. Very interesting stuff.

How about this for a response turn round:

Hello Dick, and thanks a lot for your mail!

Below?is some text about MM Band.
What is?perphiral activities?

Just let me know what you need!

Best / Morgan

Mats ֢erg (keyboards) and Morgan ŧren (drums) first began playing together 25 years ago (!!) when Mats was 10 and Morgan was 14.?
Originally very influenced by Frank Zappa, they actually played with Zappa in 1988, but while some of the Zappa influence remains, they?
have long since found their own voices. In the mid 90's, they began releasing CDs on Morgan's UAE label, eventually forming a stable band,?
which has been amazing audiences in Europe and the USA since 2001, and which consists of Mats and Robert Elovsson-keyboards,?
Jimmy Agren-guitar, Tommy Thordsson-bass and Morgan-drums. All players with superb playing ability, the quintet plays as a well-honed,?
cohesive unit, with more developed compositions than in earlier works, showing the band arriving at its own voice in progressive jazz/rock,?
with a modern-sounding blend of complexity, composition, chops and beats. Thanks For Flying With Us is their seventh album, their first?
release outside of Sweden and their first studio work since 1997.?
This is a great album by an absolutely monster band who await the world's discovery!

They played unbelievably?
- Frank Zappa

I am stunned, these guys have an extraordinary amount of talent?
- Steve Vai

Remarkable technical expertise and playing skills?
- Bill Bruford

If Morgan would live in the US, he would be huge?
- Dweezil Zappa

A Drummers dream?
- Modern Drummer
?
Their live shows, as can be expected, are always sold out. Completely amazing.?
I reckon these guys inhabit a different time zone and dimension.
- Modern Dance / Internet reviews

These guys are SO good... Do yourself a favor and go see them - if you are music
lover it will change your life.
- Ed Mann (Long time Zappa percussionist)?
