Sometimes. I listen to samples by bands who I don't know yet.
I trust my "old friends" without hearing any sample.

Sometimes.

If I feel I can trust the reviews, I usually don't listen to samples, unless there are some available. However, if im still unsure, I usually download a couple of tracks from the album first, then buy it if I like them.

Samples are, understandably, usually the best bits. You can buy an album off the back of a track sample and find that the sample is the only bit that you like. I prefer to listen to the album first, usually from a friend, or sometimes I go on recommendation.

People like this are killing music.

If you record an album, release it and then have everyone "get it for free", how would you feel? What about the artwork, the collection, the whole spirit of collecting music? You are a thief, and there's more and more of them appearing, treating music like fast food, it's becoming a consumer product, which is slowly but persistently killing musicCry

f**k downloading. I do listen to samples sometimes, but overall reviews are much more helpful to me than a few tracks out of the album's context. It is also understandable of an album is very rare or out of pront, but please have some limitsErmm

Mostly I listen to samples from ProgArchives, but sometimes I just buy an album based on reputation. I'll listen to almost anything prog or prog-related, so usually I'm satisfied with my purchases.
