I'm sure I had seen a thread about him before but I can't find it anywhere.. just listened to Spectrum and his non-inclusion seems to me more than a mystery... is he on the list?

Very goood question... I recently acquired "Spectrum", which is a real jazz-rock masterpiece, with blistering guitar courtesy of the late Tommy Bolin (what a great loss!Cry). Therefore I checked on the site whether Billy C. was included, and was really surprised. Hopefully the Jazz-Rock team will do something about that ASAP.

Billy Cobham was one of the first entries that I searched for when I joined this site. To my surprise, he wasn't here (and still isn't). His absence is a mystery indeed.

His "Spectrum" is my desert island album along with the Tull's "Aqualung". His "Crosswinds" and "Mirage" are brilliant too.

Let alone the fact how good he is - he undoubtedly belongs here.

Yeah, somebody needs to fix that.  Spectrum is the only Cobham solo album in my CD collection so far.  And how about Stanley Clarke for crying out loud?Cry
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Chus, you must understand that we're swamped by requests of additions, and that the Master List is as long as my arm... Personally, I try not to let requests for addition sit too long, though I'm not perfect either, and it happens that I slack too. However, in the case of Billy Cobham, the only way I can help is by putting up a thread in the dedicated section of the Collabs zone (which I did some 15 minutes ago). There is a Jazz-Rock specialist team, and I can't steal their job. Hopefully someone will respond ASAP.

Recently found out there are only 2 jazz-rock specialists... while in symph prog there are 5 or 6. That must be a burden for them.

Anyway thanks Ghost Rider Smile... please let us know if there's a response

@ Chus: Dick Heath gave me the green light to add him. Therefore, I'd be delighted if you could help me with the bio and discography - of course, you would be credited as the author, even if I am the one to make the actual addition.

I've resurrected this thread (a fitting move for Easter DayWink) in order to announce to all jazz-rock/fusion lovers that legendary drummer Billy Cobham has finally been added to the site's DB. Please feel free to point out anything missing from his extensive discography!

Thanks for the effort, Chus. I'm interested in this artist since I discovered the M Orchestra. It seems he will attend the Gărāna Festival this summer - an excellent camp-festival somewhere in the mountains of my country. It'll be really good this year (Jan Garbareck, Scott Henderson, Eberhard Weber and others are also coming), so I think I'll try to be there for the first time.
