Topic: Les Claypool Posted: April 30 2007 at 20:03 |
I'm not sure exactly where to place this, as Les Claypool's solo work hasn't been officially inducted into the Archives. However, his work with Primus and Oysterhead at least put him in Prog related. Well, we'll see how this goes anyways.
First listening to Primus, I thought Les was quite brilliant, but after listening to his solo work, I'd have to say, the man is a brilliant, if somewhat mad, musician. His work with Bucket Head and later in the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade has only solidified that. I'd like to know what others feel about his music. Personally, after buying the first live set of FFFB, I can't stop listening to it.
Anyone else?

I know, I'm quite excited for that.
The guy has been inactive, as far as I've seen, for some time. I'm glad he's still working on new material. I hope he does more with the FFFB, though, that stuff is golden.

I got into Primus by way of the Brigade after I heard them on AOL radio. I've collected all his "solo" stuff. If I had the power here, I'd add in all his "solo" stuff into prog related. I went so ga ga over Les Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains that I got a shirt , sticker for my truck, and a baseball cap. Les definitely appeals to weird nerve when it comes to prog.

He is rather eccentric, but that's what made me like him so much.
I do hope that new Primus album is up to par with his latest releases.

The reconstituted Primus with the original drummer Alexander was good. The live DVD was good. I would expect no less from Les. Really liked the cameos on Belews First and Third "sides".

There is already a Claypool thread in the Suggest New Bands/Artists section.
