The classic Asia line up have announced they are recording their first album together since 1983's "Alpha".

Thanks for the news! Hope its actually proggy this time (though I didn't mind that album or the debut).

I would hope it would be less commercial and more progressive too- the debut is decent enough, but I felt 'Alpha' (and 'Astra' for that matter) were 'more of the same' follow-ups and don't like them particularly much, though they have their moments. I preferred the Payne era overall, although I really enjoyed the Wetton/Downes album which was a classy and mature effort, shorn of the bombastic production of the 80s albums.

I believe there is a CD and DVD upcoming from Eagle Records documenting a recent live performance.

I guess that means we'll have to wait even longer for a new Yes album or tour...Cry

Yes is said to return for a tour in 2008.

In the mean time some projects are underway from various Yes members.

Circa will probably release their debut album this year and are apparently touring to support their album, their EP was retracted from I/tunes. but they are planning on incorporating yes material in the shows. (for those not knowing, circa is a new band from Billy Sherwood, Alan White, Tony Kay and Jimmy Haunn, who all played on Yes albums in the past Jimmy played guitar on Union to fill in what Steve Howe forgot to put down)

I heard a sample of Circaīs upcomming album, sounded quite alright, I wonder when the album will be released, since no date has been issued, and the tracklist isnīt published yet.

I expect this Asia album to sound like their first one; i don't think they are going to produce at this stage of their carreers anything reminding us of ''Starless'' meets ''Long distance Runaround''.

But i am not one of those spitting on what Asia has done. Their first 2 albums are pop with prog arrangements, but that's good music and good songs. There is nothing to be ashamed for liking ''Only Time Will Tell''  or ''Wildest Dreams''

The voice of John Wetton is at its best on those recordings.
