Hi Guys:

We have been contacted by the band, The Source, requesting inclusion on PA.  I am thinking that they might fit under Symphonic, but I'll leave that to the Symph team to decide.  The guitarist reminds me a lot of Steve Howe, so I suspect that Yes is at least one of their influences.

They are a prog rock band from Los Angeles that released one album caled All Along This Land in 2006 on the Under the Sun label.  Here is a link to their website which includes lengthy samples of 3 of the songs on this album.

Also, here is a link to their MySpace page which includes a couple of additional songs.

I found them to be a very enjoyable listen and hopefully they will be worth the Symphonic teams time as well.  Happy Progging.

Scott

Bump.  I'm not sure if the symphonic team had saw this thread or not, but since it has been a month and I haven't heard anything...

Yes, I remember checking The Source before and I wasn't wrong.

Lets check some songs:

  1. Dreams: Sounds to me a bit eclectic, goes from late Psychedelia to some sort of Avant and crossing Hard Rock plus hints of Symphonic in the vein of Yes less Symphoinic album (Relayer). good but not excklusively Symph.
  2. Bridges: Again some sort of late Psyche with reference to Latin American Proto scenario and Beatles (Forgive me but I even listen some influence fropm Bread) and alternative, very simple even when entertaining, tihs song points towars Xover IMHO.
  3. Over You, Under the Stars and the Sun: Heavy Prog with alternatuive elements, the vocal similarities with Thom Yorke are amazing, even when clearly lesdepressive and far more complex, again XOVER IMO.
  4. The Fall of Babylone: Sounds more Symphonic than the previous by far, the excellent piano gives a good complement, but still more is happening there, would dare to say some Hard Rock, very good dramatic track!!!! Apparently as the song advances gets closerto Alternative than to Symphonic.

For what UI heard I would say some former Art Rock sub.-genre with emphasis in Hard Prog and Eclectic, but after this teams give their opinions, I will talk with the team.

Sorry for haven't listened before.
