FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ÆTHERIUS ANNOUNCES NEW LINEUP AND PLANS FOR SECOND ALBUM

Massachusetts prog rockers ÆTHERIUS have announced the addition of three new members to the group, making them now an unconventional seven-piece outfit.

ÆTHERIUS 2008:

OKB – RMB – STB – DJG – GSM – NRS – LBV

At the forefront of this major change is OKB, a past ÆTHERIUS collaborator and former vocalist of POLARIS.  In the world of dime-a-dozen female fronted bands, a singer with such power and sheer emotion is a rare find, making her a much sought after musician.  Guitarist STB comments: “We’ve known that her voice was the missing piece in this group for quite some time.  We had made numerous attempts in the past to try and make this happen, but for various reasons, it never came to fruition until now.”  OKB contributed guest vocals to ÆTHERIUS’ debut release "All That I Need to Survive”, which only fueled the fire for members and fans alike.  Her aggressive and unique set of lungs combined with the creativity and dynamics of progressive music will surely be turning heads.

On a different front, comes the addition of sound designer and keyboard extraordinaire NRS, a man of many titles and known for his ability to perform several roles in a single project.  He is currently studying Music Synthesis and Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and has studied under the likes of Andrew List, Bruce Thomas, Josh Rosen, and many others.  His past and ongoing projects, to name a few, include Philadelphia’s own PHILIMATICA, and J. NEWRY, as well as producing music under his own name.  ÆTHERIUS guitarist RMB said while reflecting back: “He was exactly what we were looking for… the knowledge, the creativity, the enthusiasm…  We feel very lucky to have found him when we did.”

Last and certainly not least, comes fellow Berklee College of Music student, and German native, LBV, who has taken over bass duties in ÆTHERIUS, allowing former bassist DJG to take up a few more strings and become the group’s third guitar player.  Comments DJG on this change:  “We are ecstatic to have him joining the fold as our new bassist.  His knowledge of the instrument is far more advanced than we could have ever wished for.  This combined with the addition of a third guitar has really brought a whole new dimension to the music.  It’s all about removing limitations and keeping it interesting… evolve or dissolve.”  LBV is currently a Music Production and Engineering Major at Berklee College of Music and his past collaborations include working with London-based Owen M. Gurry (performing guitarist of British pop singer Natalia), multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Matthew James Nagel of California, and Chinese singer/songwriter I-Shan Hsueh. He has also studied with Torsten Reichert of VANDEN PLAS while in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

ÆTHERIUS is currently working on the follow-up to their 2007 full-length release  “All That I Need to Survive”.  When asked about how the new material would differ from previous work, ÆTHERIUS drummer GSM had this to say: “In almost every aspect.  For one thing, it represents us feeling out each other’s influences much more drastically; getting acquainted, if you will, with playing and listening outside of your own box… the culmination of musicians wanting to further challenge themselves, both physically, and mentally.”

ÆTHERIUS plans to release their next record sometime in 2009.  In the meantime, the group will be focusing on live performances, and they invite you to attend and join them in the musical mayhem!
