I'm a wee bit of an Al Pacino fan & thought only voting for one movie wouldn't be enough. Although I'm very much impressed by all the movies on the list, here are my five personal favorites.

1. Dog Day Afternoon
2. Godfather Part 2
3. Scarface
4. Angels in America
5. Scent of a Woman

I also think Panic in Needle Park & Scarecrow would probably be 6 & 7; sadly overlooked movies but the emotion he delivers in them are just as good or probably better than the movies where he delivers his amazing speeches.

His portrayal of Tony Montana is realistically dark while very complicated with various moods he goes through in the film. He's doing everything he can to make it to the top but also acknowledging that he can't really trust anyone around him, his hatred of the injustice of his situations he's put in (like being a ruthless Cuban in Miami, then having to resort to killing children with a car bomb), and it all gradually fuels him to binge on the extreme life he's living to where he loses himself in it without any sanity left. At least that's what i get from it. Also his mannerisms are so dynamic & believable at the same time.

I'm not a huge fan of al pacino, but as michael corleone he is absolutely amazing.  I cant believe he didnt win an academy award for either of those movies.  His perfomance in those two movies is probably my favorite of any actor period.  If I had to choose one of them I guess I will go with the second, but I could make an argument for either.
