How're you doing ?

Just thought i'd say hi , was browsing the net this evening , and stumbled across this site. Have to say , its absolutley brilliant , i've been into prog rock for a little while now , big fan of bands such as Ozric Tentacles , Camel , Rush , Pink Floyd and things like that. I think what drew me to it in the first place was how interesting it is , and its shocking to know some people can sit there content to listen to their hip-hop when there is so much great music in the world

Well , thats my introduction done , feel free to return the favour or reccomend me some bands

 We are all over the map here. Just jump in and swim. Considering the bands you've listed already, I'd say check out the MP3's in the ART Rock categories.

Hi - and welcome to the madhouse - well, you have to be a bit crazy to enjoy prog, don't you!

From your list, I'd recommend you check out Steve Hillage, and play "Let's see how many riffs the Ozrics nicked!!!"

Joking aside, I once played bass for the Ozrics, and they're a superb band - they can jam around ANYTHING

I also strongly recommend Marillion - especially now they're saving prog once again - but they fall heavily into the category of "you won't get them the first few times" 

I also recommend David Hasselhoff... (slaps own wrist)

Cheers guys , this evening i've been mostly listening to the Porcupine Tree tunes i grabbed from the site , absolutely great and one of the best bands i've heard in a long time :)

The Ozrics are playing in London sometime soon ... i hope i can go and see them , got no one to go with right now though :(

Theres some other bands i like too , forget to mention them earlier :

Dream Theater , King Crimson , Frank Zappa etc.

I think i've narrowed it down , i think the stuff i like the most is music that generally tends to degenerate into one big guitar solo type mismash (such as some of the Zappa i heard , and especially the Ozrics) .
