Even though Reckoning Night is a great album, Sonata Arctica's power metal can't be considered progressive.

After much consideration and discussion, Stratovarius have been REJECTED for Prog related.

The new members have brought more prog -elements to the music of Stratovarius. Lauri Porra and Matias Kupiainen. Jens Johansson (keyboardist) has gone their way also.

Check out their new 2011 album "Elysium" and you'll know. The last song for example, consists of 3 continuous parts, over 18 minute long, and there is not a moment i'd cut out. I was positively surprised.

A new album with a new approach might lead to a reconsideration, but I doubt they are anywhere as near to progressive metal as they were back in the mid 90's.

Justa small update, listened to the whole album on youtube and, apart from that closing epic, hardly anything on the album is progressive, and even in the epic, only some passages.

As I mentioned again in the past, quality does not means "progressivity" (is that even a word? LOL).
