Phoenix - Cantofabule is definitely one of my faves too.
quality over quantity, and all kind of PopcoRn almost beyond

Renaissance - Live at Carnegie Hall, no question.

But that's cheating I suppose.

Scanning through all the old posts (many by former members!) struggled to find any one single mention of ELP's Works Volume One. Seems now to have been written off as some kind of aberration and the beginning of the end of a once great band. As a fan I don't think it can be entirely dismissed. Fanfare For The Common Man is some piece of music, the bass alone is ridiculous in a over the top pompous good way. Pirates is massively underrated , I just love band plus orchestral tracks. Drums are maybe mixed a little low but its not a deal breaker for me. The solo sides don't suck either. I would have maybe preferred just a couple of the Greg Lake songs and a few less tracks on Carl Palmer side, but Emerson's classical piece is a wonderful effort and shows his skill as a composer. Overall surely deserves a mention at least.

The Beatles: White Album
Led Zeppelin: Physical Graffitti
Pink Floyd: The Wall
The Who: Tommy

So which do you think is the best double album?
Just A Quick One.... It's great to see The Who are included in ProgArchives, which I didn't realise until I saw your list. The Who made music for My Generation and they never played By Numbers or Sold Out either. It's Hard to choose a favourite, but I'll pick The Who from the four you mentioned. Rock on Tommy! Thumbs Up

All of my favorites have been posted over and over already in this thread, but I'd add
The Kinks "Everybody's in show biz" and Humble Pies "Live at the Fillmore".

Thanks for mentioning this one.

Whenever I listen to it, I ALWAYS play Side 2 ("FIFO") last, because the "Watching the Aeroplanes" movement is so cataclysmic, even incandescent, that absolutely NOTHING can follow it! Play this one LOUD!
