Hi, I read this on Rick Wakeman's website the other day, but maybe I missed something..what exactly is this show going to be? If I had to make a guess, I'd say that it was going to be a grand piano/acoustic guitar/vocal show with just the two of them on stage playing "The Living Tree" and maybe a couple of new arrangements of Yes songs (Hardly all of Yessongs, Im' sure Tongue ). Or are they bringing a 5-man band and playing Yes and solo classics?

Hah!  Great question!  I expect it to be the "Living Tree" material, but we should stay tuned!   I know that Jon is quite interested in playing "Olias" live, that would be a wonderful bit of material to work with.

Wakeman indicates that they are making progress with their collaboration with Trevor Rabin, so I'm hoping that iteration will eventually emerge.   Meanwhile, Yes keeps wheezing along....

Oh boy...Jon has mentioned that he was learning "Olias" again with a new band...(or something beautifully convoluted that sounded like he might have been hinting at that) meanwhile there have been more than hushed whispers of unreleased solo music left and right, and collaborations with Rabin, Brufford (but his case seems most unlikely), Keith Emerson and Jon Lord...nobody would begin to imagine anybody in that list being involved with this little tour, but it makes me wonder how these collaborations might affect the tour...is there new music being worked on that might show up?

Haha...and you mention 'Yes proper.' After having seen a youtube video of the David/Wakeman Jr. line-up on youtube, I commented that they both do their jobs incredibly well (and I'm sure Mr. Downes will once again, too) but something's just not clicking there. Something's stopping that band from being Yes.

Trying to explain this whole situation to my friend the other day, I ended up making up this baby explanation: "There are now two teams: The Chris Squire Team, and The Jon Anderson Team. Yes plays for the Chris Squire team, and Rick Wakeman plays for the Jon Anderson team. " XD I don't know how accurate or fair that is, but it makes a little sense, I think. It's sad, but that's how it is. :p

I can safely say that my friends and I will be looking into tickets for the Montreal show no matter what these gods want to play or how,  because we've all pretty much joined the bandwagon for the Jon Anderson team. :p

Geez...I went and wrote a bible...sorry about that! :P

Hah!  No apology needed, you write very well!!    I'm a big fan of several Facebook sites about Yes, including "Notes From The Edge."  Interestingly, they posted this live version of "Flight of the Moorglade" from "Olias," featuring Jon Anderson and.....Rick Wakeman!!   Back from 1979!   I could easily see them reprise this material together, perhaps with a few sidemen, or perhaps just as a duet!!

Wow....that's actually very nice, and an option I hadn't considered...the two of them doing Olias with synthesizers, organs and all kinds of Wakemanisms  on stage, but no drums or bass, and only Jon's acoustic guitar. It would be a little more exciting than just the grand piano, I suppose.

Oooh yes...Notes from the Edge is the best fan site period, I think. I've followed Yes MUCH closer because of that than Yesworld.com, which I also check regularly, often to find nothing new.

And if you like those kinds of videos, the internet is full of bootlegs nowadays. There are sites that give you information on the bootlegs that were around way back when, and then torrent sites, forums and even blogs that post remastered versions. I never got into that really...I always want the ones that sound the best, and the way that people indicate how the bootlegs sound is usually very unclear and misleading. However I do know of one key bootleg being "Yessongs 2: Tales in New York." "The White Album," which I think is a sampler from 71 or 72, seems to come up a lot, too...a rather silly name for a Yes bootleg really, considering where it's been used before.
The Yes ROIO community is almost as strong as the Pink Floyd one today.

Are tickets on sale yet? If so, where can they be purchased?

I saw this when they toured in the UK. It's a very personal gig, very warm. They played songs from The Living Tree and acoustic renditions of classic Yes songs.

Unfortunately the only two that I live near are both on Tuesdays.
At least here they turn out to really be in the towns I live near. Usually I see city names like Manchester and Cambridge (New England cities), etc, only to find out that they're talking about the UK! :p

For Immediate Release
YES Legends Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman To Tour The US Fall 2011

9/15/2011 – Asheville, NC - Much to the delight of fortunate music fans in the Eastern part of North America, music legends and former YES members Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman will be playing a select number of engagements this coming Fall 2011. The legendary duo performed a series of successful concerts in the UK in 2010 in support of their critically acclaimed CD release 'The Living Tree', and are now bringing their highly anticipated show to America!

Having worked together on and off since 1971's groundbreaking YES masterwork 'Fragile', Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman have traveled similar musical paths that have eventually and happily led their careers back together again! Now once again, the duo promise a magical evening of music and humor for all who attend! “Expect a night of music, full of YES classics and new adventures in song from 'The Living Tree' album and moments of brilliance, humor and affection borne from a friendship and musical partnership that has lasted 40 years”, says Jon. "We knew from the responses on the last YES tour that the acoustic section was extremely popular and that many of the pieces could be re-arranged and adapted to make very interesting and hopefully enjoyable new ways of playing YES music and our own music," adds Rick.
The tour is being produced by Metropolitan Talent Presents and is booked by Keith Naisbitt of Los Angeles based Agency for the Performing Arts. John Scher co-CEO of Metropolitan says, "We are incredibly proud to be presenting the North American debut of this legendary duo! Jon and Rick ARE the voice and sound of YES, as well as famously successful solo performers! This tour will be areal treat for their legions of fans."

Here's what the UK press has said about the Anderson Wakeman tour:

“One of the songs played on the night was the impressive '23/24/11' (from Anderson Wakeman - The Living Tree), the true story of a soldier out in Afghanistan who had that amount of time left to serve as his tour of duty. Looking round at the audience there wasn't a dry eye left in the house. Once more the combination of Jon's amazing vocal style and the lyrics work perfectly.” - Ian D. Hall, LS Media, UK

“Anderson showed yet again that he is the true voice of YES...Wakeman provided the keyboard wizardry and a stream of stories.” - Ian Harvey, Express & Star, UK

Supporters of these two legends can witness close up, their unique bond which spans almost 40 years; and why these two are being billed as the 'Heart and Soul' of Prog giants YES.” - Classic Media, UK

"Constant humorous interludes and witty interjections from the pair helped enliven the show and added a welcomed lightness. Not only were these anecdotes entertaining, they were also insightful...these two are a perfect creative partnership." - Neil Mach, Staines Weblog

I saw Jon on his solo tour over the summer and got to meet him, and he signed my CTTE record.  I'd say if its a small enough venue like the one I was at (and since you're close up) you might be able to.  I hope it's a good show!
