It sort of speaks for itself. I have listened to Chicago Transit Authority and
heard a lot of Jazz styles in it. Chicago (II) had more jazz and some
symphonic elements to it as well. Chicago III still maintained the jazz sound
they have always had and once again played with the symphonic idea.
Chicago V was more pop same with Chicago 6. maybe more art rock? Then
Chicago VII came along. That is in my opinion one of the most prog works
I've heard out of that band. The jazz was back and stronger than ever, they
opened it with very interesting interludes and almost half of the album is
instrumental. 8 followed in the footsteps of 5 and six but had more of a big
band sound on some tracks. After those albums they sort of losed their
luster and once Kath (their guitar player died). They did seem to falter a bit
with their progness. Nonetheless, I would greatly apreciate it if you would
consider Chicago as an addition to this website.

I second this motion on the strength of their first 8 albums, all of which contain some prog elements, the 2nd and 3rd being the ones that would appeal the most to progheads.

The first three albums are awesome and the Live At Carnegie Hall their crowning achievement.

They started to lose it a little by Chicago V but still stayed correct until VIII.

Prog? In a sort of way, yes. Worthy of inclusion? only for the first 8 albums then , but their whole discography included here would certainly hurt the credibility of the Archives.

I approve,those early albums were wonderful proggy albums.The best horns section ever!

Yes, i think Chicago II, III & IV can be considered prog...but their '80's stuff is AbbA style!

Chicago Transit authority is smokin in some respects.  Liberation just blows my mind.  but in some songs, just to pop for me.  so maybe they'd fit in under art rock?  also, when people think of chicago...they think saturday in the park...or 25 or 6 to 4....two songs that are not prog..so I could see how Chicago would hurt the sites appeal to the masses who don't know much about prog or chicago beyond those two 70s hits and their 80s works.

Chicago IV-Live at Carnegie hall is full of prog (also an excellent live album in general) as is VII, among others
