October 24, 2011—Frontiers Records proudly announces the latest live release from the most influential and ground-breaking progressive rock ‘n’ roll band in history, YES. New album “In The Present—Live from Lyon” will be available on CD/DVD on November 29th in North America and December 2nd in Europe.

Recorded in Lyon, France, on December 1st 2009, “In The Present – Live from Lyon” is an outstanding collection of hidden gems and unforgettable classics, with new singer Benoit David breathing new life into each of the evergreen tracks. The package comes with a 55 minute DVD containing excerpts from the live performance, candid interviews and behind the scenes footage. The cover art features an original design by Roger Dean, author of most YES album covers including classics ‘Fragile’, ‘Close To The Edge’ and ‘Drama’.

YES’ powerful compositions influenced a generation of musicians. They have a hugely successful and indelible catalogue of masterpieces; songs like “Roundabout,” a seminal hit which consistently appears on “the best songs of all-time” lists, and the group’s #1 hit “Owner of a Lonely Heart”, taken from the YES album ‘90125’, saw YES top the UK and US album charts simultaneously.

YES are the pioneers for the use of synthesizers and sound effects in modern music and produced a multitude of timeless, symphonic-rock masterworks; they continued to push the cutting edge of art-rock music to their limits, selling over 30 million albums and reaching platinum status multiple times worldwide. YES latest studio album ‘Fly From Here’ – the first in ten years – hit the Top 10 on the Rock Charts and was declared as their “best work since the ‘70s” (Paste Magazine)

In the Present – Live From Lyon” will be released in a gloss digipak edition. The final tracklisting includes:

  • Disc One
    1. Siberian Khatru
    2. I’ve Seen All Good People
    3. Tempus Fugit
    4. Onward
    5. Astral Traveller
    6. And You And I
    7. Corkscrew (Acoustic Solo)
  • Disc Two
    1. Owner Of A Lonely Heart
    2. Southside Of The Sky
    3. Machine Messiah
    4. Heart of the Sunrise
    5. Roundabout
    6. Starship Trooper
  • DVD
Interviews, Excerpts from the Live Show, Roundabout, Machine Messiah (running time approx 55 mins.)

A limited edition gatefold sleeve 3 LP vinyl release (only including the audio portion of the album) will be exclusively available in the European markets.

No new material? That seems odd.

Well, this was recorded before Fly From Here was recorded and Geoff joined. I think the band released this as a favor to Oliver.

Anything for a quick buck I suppose. They could have at least released a concert where they played some of the new songs rather hearing the same old material again with an inferior singer.

''Frontiers Records proudly announces the latest live release from the most influential and ground-breaking progressive rock ‘n’ roll band in history, YES.''

I thought that was King Crimson.Confused

Recorded in Lyon? Usually, bands record live albums in Paris. But I wonder if this release doesn't appear a little too soon: Fly From Here had been released just this summer.

Your'e all jealous cos they are filthy richTongue

Nearly all of them are doing it. Peter Gabriel springs to mind, though Caravan have had a great resurgence of interest of late with live material. Not so sure about KC...

Give it a spin on Spotify, but don't expect a hard copy unless it's a Christmas present! Wink

It would have been more interesting to see a more substantial number of tracks from Drama played live here. Of course, I'll buy it because I have every Yes album there is ... but I was hoping for something a little more compelling.

Even my Yes fanboyism has it's limits, I doubt I will be getting this recording, because unlike the Union one released last year or the Symphonic one the year before, I doubt these are particularly interesting or unique recordings of these songs.

Even the cover art is dull, looks like Keys to Ascension.

I like this (note the bit I've underlined) -

Everything about this release is just plain depressing, even for someone like me who doesn't subscribe to the tedious "it's not Yes without Jon" view.

Why must every Yes live album (ok, except Yesshows) include Roundabout and Starship Trooper?  How many live versions of those do I really need?  Still, I'll probably have to get it for the live versions of the Drama tracks.  Should be interesting, I just wish they'd done two different songs than the tired old standards that make up the last two tracks.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
