(Bio taken from Myspace)
Founding member of After Dinner (1981-1991) and Hoahio. At her studio, Mescalina, in Kobe, Japan, she has created numerous recordings both as producer and engineer. As a musician and sound-artist, Haco has also given performances and created live installations throughout Japan and the world. With her unique sensibility, Haco has developed her own genre of art based on principles of post-punk, electroacoustics, the avant-garde, improvisation, post-rock, environmental sound, and technology. Haco also frequently lectures and gives workshops on various sound-related topics. Official website - http://www.hacohaco.net/haco/home.html I'm thinking Avant-Garde or Crossover, because she tends to be reallly poppy at times, but the sound is similar to After Dinner, which is here under the Avant-Garde sub-genre.

I should listen to full albums to give my opinion: I only know a few songs and his work with After Dinner.

Damned English linguage!
Yeah, "her" work: her voice is a pretty hint at her gender! |

The samples sound like interesting experimental music but not progressive rock at all.

well she's worked with Tom Cora, Fred Frith, Zeena Parkins (i think??), produced some of the most beautiful albums I've heard in years, and employs rock in music from time to time... I'd give her a closer listen

After having seen her in concert yesterday, I wondered if there had been a topic about her inclusion into the PA database...
4 years ago already?! |

Don't see her on Progfreak so not sure if there was ever a formal assessment.

I have personally put her more into the prog related camp, but she does continue with art/ avant pop musical similarities to After Dinner (one of my favourite bands, by the way), and I like her experimental/ electro-acoustic music. Haco's collaboration with Hiromichi Sakamoto, Ash in the Rainbow, is one of my favourite albums of the noughties, incidentally.
