The two Burton films were more artsy, whereas the recent trilogy were more in line with the comics; Batman actually portrayed as a detective like he's supposed to be, and more action packed. Both styles did justice, as both types of styles are used in the comics as well.

^ True though I'd say none of the films or other versions have had the guts to do the real Batman, a guy with few of the ridiculous contraptions, vehicles or larger-than-life imagery--  maybe someone will do a 'Gotham By Gaslamp' or similar steampunk version.

For me, no other Batman film has managed to capture not only the character of Batman but also of his arch-nemesis The Joker better than The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger's performance is forever engrained into my mind. He totally nails the role. Jack Nicholson did great job as well, but Ledger was The Joker for the 21st Century. I can almost imagine his performance will be talked about for many, many years to come.

Mark Hamill turned into quite a notable voice actor. I'm sure he still gets residuals from the original Star Wars trilogy. I can't think of one film outside of Star Wars come to think about it. I know he's been in many, but I don't recall any of them being memorable. But, yes, he voiced The Joker well.

Harrison Ford has done well.

Haven't seen the new one yet, but aside from that I'd say:

The Dark Knight
Batman Forever
Batman (89)
Batman Begins

Mark Hammill is a terrific Joker and he has done voice overs for lots of other cool projects too:

Voice overs since Star Wars:

^After his wooden performance as Luke Skywalker, Hammill actually improved when he started only doing voices.

My favourite is The Dark Knight, of course. Amazing special effects, captivating storyline and Heath Ledger's acting - iconic. After that, probably something like this:
2. Batman Begins
3. Batman (80's)
4. The Dark Knight Rises
5. Batman Returns

Having seen The Dark Knight Rises, here's my list:

1. Mask of the Phantasm 9/10
2. Batman Begins 8/10
3. Batman 8/10
4. Batman Returns 7/10
5. The Dark Knight 7/10
6. The Dark Knight Rises 6/10

Not even gonna mention the rest. On another note, no Batman movie can beat the comics or the 1990's animated series.
Bigger on the inside.

In a way, yes, he fits the role of the earlier comics and cartoon Joker but the best Joker is the sick psychopathic pseud-terrorist Joker of the modern age and that role is nailed by Heath Ledger.

The Animated Series is all of my nostalgia though, still love it to pieces. One of the best cartoons ever, IMO.
