Soft Machine: BBC In Concert 1971 has been recently issued by Hux Records and has had some glowing reviews.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009IE6VC/qid=11 21980803/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_11_4/026-6053018-5415620

This was Machine at it largest and probably at it most mainstream jazz - for instance it boasted Soft Machine supporter and legendary jazz club owner Ronnie Scott in its ranks - and indeed the numbers of musicians were only brought together for this one-off Radio One gig.

However,  the contents of the album:

1. John Peel Introduction
2. Blind Badger
3. Neo-Caliban Grides
4. Out Bloody Rageous [Excerpt]/Eamonn Andrews/All White/Kings and Queens/
5. Slightly All the Time [Excerpt]/Noisette

overlaps BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert recording  to some extent , issued by Windsong 12 years ago (catalogue no: WINCD 031)
1. Blind Badger
2. Neo Caliban Grides
3. Continuous Medley
a) Out Bloody rageous (excerpts)
b) Eamonn Andrews
c) All White
d) Kings & Queens
e) Teeth
f) Pigling Bland

So  has the new release gained John ('I always thought prog was bollocks, absolute bollocks') Peel's intro and track 5 - but has it lost Teeth & Pigling Bland?  Should I buy????

I don't own this CD, but I had a look at it today, and it's an exact copy of the earlier CD's tracklisting, plus the Peel intro- the CD does have 'Teeth' and 'Pigling Bland' on it. I reckon the Peel intro is possibly on the first track of the earlier CD, but is not given a separate track.

A review provides slightly more info:

Nice quote from Ronnie Scott said during rehearsals for the BEEB gig, found in the liner notes of the Windfall version: "Can't we play the blues or Sweet Sue"?
