For the second year in a row, bookies have laid odds that Haruki Murakami is the odds-on favorite to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. (How do you feel about that, by the way?)

So far, I've read Hard-Boiled Wonderland, Norwegian Wood, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Sputnik Sweetheart, and Kafka on the Shore. All of them are excellent, but my favorite is Sputnik Sweetheart, which, perhaps for its English title, receives little mention usually. I wonder how it fared in Japan?

A frequent criticism is that his books tend to be very similar to each other. That may be, but it's the reason I love to read his works...

	It's a tough choice between Kafka on the Shore and 1Q84 trilogy. Murakami is currently my favorite writer and I have been betting on him to be awarded the Nobel Prize for a couple of years now. I 'm a bookseller so we always do some inhouse betting among the staff. I think he's still too young though.

	Only read the After the Quake short story collection which I found to vary a lot in quality, and I'm not sure how much of it I understood in full.

	Read 2004 After Dark and 1987 Norwegian Wood Both while staying in Japan, that gave Murakami an extra dimention. ! After dark was my favorite so far, but no vote as i only know those two.
