1973 was my first real year of being totally lost in prog. It was also the year of Hawkwind's Space ritual tour which I was lucky to catch in Glasgow.

Hi,

If I have to make a choice and vote, I'm gonna regret it in contortions and thinking ... how can I forget this or that!

It's terrible!

You're forcing me to split my mind and appreciation, specially when there are bands that had great work in more than one year. How can we say that 72 was better than 74 or 69 for Peter Hammill and his band? See?????

I'm on strike. Dean poisoned my tea with sugar!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

tough choice... I'm kind of leaning toward '71 and '72

Voted '71 had a lot of awesomeness going for it, too many to mention

Went with '76, but that could change tomorrow or any other day.

1972: Close To The Edge, Foxtrot, Per Un Amico & fabulous Storia Di Un Minuto, Darwin! by Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso.. No brainer to me - 1972.

If KC released a decent album in 1970, that would probably get my vote. Since they didn't, I'll have to think about this a little bit.

Probably 75, because of WYWH, Ommadawn, Rubycon, Ricochet (best TD live), Voyage of the Acolyte... but it is a tough poll, too tough for me, I think.

Was there Prog after 1972? I haven't noticed as I'm still playing the albums from '72. LOL

I don't have a favourite.
When you've stretched out beyond the top 100 lists and ventured out among the non English speaking world and all of it's different scenes from just as many different countries, it quite quickly becomes clear how bonkers a poll like this really is............well at least for me that is. I love too many different styles of music to be able to pick between years. Symph and psych were great in the start of the 70s while RIO and avant really packed a punch toward the end of that decade. Depending on my mood I could vote for any year really.
