I know suggesting improvements or modifications in PA is useless but OK, just for the fun of it.
It might be nice to have a "Like" button in the posts so people could rate their appreciation of what's been said without needing to write a new post saying something like "nice comment you made there", which most of the time they will not do unless they have something else to add to the subject.

I think the newest versions of the forum software have that feature but the current one doesn't, you can do it on Metal Music Archives I think.

Oh come on... like ?   What are we in Jr High School?   Illiterates?   If you don't want to write something, then don't, or put an emo.   "Like" is one step closer to the Facebook culture.   No thanks.

Agreed. Posting your thoughts is fine (and preferable). No need for this.

like...totally. Instead of a Like button, how about a brightly coloured and shiny inarticulate plankton button that emits an idiotic giggle when pressed? People are too busy 'networking with one another' to articulate their own ideas?

I'm with all the other old farts. I don't want to know who likes a post or how many people like a post, I want to know what people think. If anyone agrees or disagrees with something I've posted then tell me why, if I only wanted validation I'd make a poll.

Sure some moral support at times is most welcome so a clappie Clap an approve Approve or even a thumbs-up Thumbs Up is a nice to see but this is a forum: a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged, so exchange some views and ideas.
What?

This is included in version 10 of the forum software (http://www.webwiz.co.uk/web-wiz-forums/kb/release-notes.htm)

17. forum_posts.asp - updated to add Googles new +1 button (Googles version of Facebook Like button)

+1. Just because I agree ... on every count of the posts. Just a like is so ambiguous and impersonal.

I would prefer a "burn in bloody hell" button for particularly infuriating, incomprehensible or mind-bogglingly obtuse posts.

And after one receives one-hundred such replies for their particular posting abnormalities, said poster gets an ass hat afixed to their avatar in recognition for such a dubious accomplishment.

That's Approve and approve face? I always thought it was 'smug' (b*****d) face!

Oh well!  I like the idea of a like totally button and a ggiggling amoeba button  (cool!)

lol

Aye aye!

Or perhaps a "prog demagogue" jester's hat for those posters who couch their replies in ornate philosophical jargon meant more for Kant than the perceived complexities of a King Crimson composition.

The same can be said for alluding to Italian films or obscure Brazilian writers when referring to what amounts to a four chord 20 minute-long rock song played in 7/8 time.

Alright, I get what you mean, I myself am not in Facebook nor Twitter not anything like that.
Perhaps if instead of a "Like" we would have a "The Clap" button it would meet less objections Tongue

But you can't quantify your popularity with emoticons. Statistics are a major element of self-esteem.

Perceptive certainly.
