Considering all the other bands that are in here including some of the others in the prog related(or even crossover prog)category I still can't believe the Tubes aren't in here. I'm sure I'm not the first person to suggest them. However, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have suggested them.

The Tubes were formed in the early seventies in San Francisco. They quickly became known for their outrageous live shows. In this sense they have something in common with early Genesis. However, The Tubes music probably had more in common with Frank Zappa and the mothers of Invention. Although they later became most well known for their eighties hit "she's a beauty" there is a lot more to the Tubes than the casual listener would assume. They worked with Todd Rundgren on at least one occasion and made some very adventurous and quirky rock music. Fans of Frank Zappa, Utopia or some of the more arty new wave bands should check out The Tubes. The Todd Rundgren connection alone is enough to put them in the prog related category imo.
