Not a big fan of either song, VDGG is a nice ballad, but somewhat boring and with SM the voice is really putting me off. so I would choose VDGG, but not because it's great, but because the other soks minkeyballs.

VDGG for me.   The Soft's tune misses by a smidge. I do like both tracks.

I like Volume Two as an album more than H to He, but song-wise... One's a mini-epic, the other is Lies Perfectly Still.

The choice is easy. VDGG.

.......perfectly still....... It has Ratledege's Fuzzy organ, though without the amazing lyrical profoundness........
Love Wyatt, love Hammill more........
.........I do, however, rate both Volume 2 and H To He.... as 5 stars albums....

Never a big of fan of the first two SM, and that is one of my favorite VdGG tracks.

Soft Machine by a medium-sized margin.

The Softs win for me as well. "House With No Door", while nice, is far from being my fav VDGG song.

+1.

"As Long As He Lies Perfectly Still" ... haven't heard it in five-six years. Brings back some good memories. I really like the voice/piano/fuzz-organ combo. Makes for a rich sound.

Soft Machine. The VdGG song is as I remember it. Boring. At a certain point I just don't care to hear the rest. Sorry.

Van der Graaf Generator, House With No Door.

Hi,

VdGG is likely the favorite here, as I am not sure enough folks have heard enough material by Soft Machine to make a fair choice.
