Two of the all time best composers of film from early 80s til today, whom scores have a beutifull ambience and majestics to it. Both manage to create vissual magic with their scores, whos your favourite. -------------

Hi, Compared to the really great music film makers, I do not think that they measure up, in terms of the kind of work used, and I attribute that to the fact that they never got to work with better and more important directors, who are better suited to use music with their work, as it enhances the visualization of the film. I tend to think that too much of these 2 folks' work was in the area of the lesser artistic and more popular films, because the lesser artistic films will not give the time and effort to music, like the good directors do ... except at the titles in the beginning or end! .... WOW!!!! Of all these, though, Hans probably deserves the better credit since he is one of the primary electronic teachers and users within the art form, although, today, he is not the only one. Between him, Riyuchi Sakamoto and Tangerine Dream, I kinda doubt that many would be as well versed in the art of electronic work as they are. Strange that you did not even consider Ryuichi Sakamoto ... and he has an Oscar in his closet! Well then maybe you should because the two or three Howard soundtracks Im familiar with all SUCK; however, this early instrumental keys lp does not. |

One of these days, I will have to make a list of all the soundtracks albums/cd's I have ... it's over 100 of them that are worth listening to, and you might start with Bernard Herrmann, and by the time you get to Howard, he is fine, not great in my book, but fine.
Hard to compare these two to the Bernard Herrmann's, Maurice Jarre's, Ennio Morricone's, Vangelis, and so many others out there ... that have etched their name in the history of film.
