Never heard of either. Don't care to. Nothing left to see here, move on.

I only like Cynic's first album and Atheist have better albums than it, so there goes my vote.

I've never heard a note of either band, but instead of sitting out this time, I listened to the two songs Micky provided and voted based solely on that.  Since I have no prior knowledge of either band, I figured this was fair.  I liked the Cynic track better so I voted for that.

Looks like the godless need the vote. Also, their big two albums edge out Cynic's three.

How am I supposed to vote against metal if two metal bands are facing each other?

Not a huge fan of either, but Cynic for me.

hahahah. Yeah, I was wondering how you would approach this poll.

Do what I plan on doing. Listening to the two samples and picking whichever turns your stomach less. LOLWink

I had thought about changing this one when random selection put both of these bands against each other but while the voting on some of the very different stylistic differences we have seen can be fun, so can voting on bands that for the uninitiated might sound like the same band haha.

Cynic. No point in voting for myself, being a devoted atheist. Tongue
Seriously, though, all credits to the band that spawned Exivious eventually.

Just going to have to skip this poll then go after the winner hard in the next round.  It's hard to watch good bands fall left and right while at least one metal band is guaranteed to move on, though.

I sat this one out as well, although Cynic appeals to me more than Athiest does based on heard samples.

This has been how I worked the entire Battle of the Bands.  It's a chance to listen to some bands I know little or nothing of.  I'm going to be busy in the New Year exploring now.

In this case, i know Cynic a little.  Despite the death growls, they still get my vote.

Listening to the sample (which were provided to me btw for the poll) I haven't heard them.

So here we go!!!

huh.

I actually liked both tracks but talk about being very different.

Atheist was nice sonic assault. Like a sledgehammer hahha

Cynic had some of that sh*t we were just talking about ... subtlety and dynamics. I really liked that clip.

easy vote. For Cynic!!!

Both are absolutely amazing...
Atheist have numbers (more albums) by their side...while Cynic..to me have the greatest rythm section in extreme metal...
You know where my vote goes...

I prefer tech-thrash/death-metal to prog-metal and vote for Atheist because of Piece of Time and Unquestionable Presence (although the latter album is proggy).
