From the Crossdressing Conference we have one of the great early progressive rock bands. From England PROCOL HARUM From the Neo Conference we have... a Neo group  From England IQ!!!!! Vegas oddmakers have installed Procol Harum as a 10 vote favorite. Can IQ pull the upset, will the Neo weenies show in force or will the anti-Neo forces band together to stamp IQ out. Another vote for Procol Harum - a band that, almost 50 years after it first started, can still wow fans when on stage. I remember getting goosebumps when they played "A Salty Dog" at Wolf Trap three years ago, when opening for Jethro Tull. And Gary Brooker still has one of the best voices in the business! |

I don't have anything by either, I know PH reasonably well & listened to an IQ album last night to see (again) if I was missing something. I've come to the conclusion I shouldn't be voting on these bands. This is a no-brainer for me. IQ all the way. ^ I think 'a nice band of followers' is a bit unfair ("Harvest of Souls" aside). Mike Holmes was fusing modern electronic looping into symphonic sounding music earlier than anyone that I can think of. ------------- -------someone please tell him to delete this line, he looks like a noob------- I don't have an unnatural obsession with Disney Princesses, I have a fourteen year old daughter and coping mechanisms. |

It depends on the album Ian. If I were only to hear Subterranea the vote would be for PH without a second thought. It applies the other way around too. Procol Harum by a large big enourmous bit. They still manage to sound quite modern after all this time. An I'm sure that bands like Elbow are heavily influenced by them. Listened to them with the BBC Orchestra last week and they were tremendous.  ------------- Help me I'm falling! |

Procol Harum are good, but never really grabbed me. Even with its weaker parts, The Road of Bones is one of the better albums this year. Intelligence Quotient it is.

In the spirit of very old band vs not so old band, and some members that make argument for "newer" bands....I like PH but nowhere near as much as IQ, plus they are old IQ on this one....I don't think they win though. -------------

| with some very notable exceptions, I have had trouble with neo prog, especially with some of its bigger names, of which IQ is one. Procol was my gateway group to prog and although I can't say they are one of my top 20 anymore, there are still some tracks that make me remember why they drew me in. So they easily get my vote |

As a lover of Neo, I went with IQ on this one. Procol have a few really good songs, but otherwise I am not that familiar with them. Similar to Traffic and even the Moody Blues, I really consider them as more of a classic rock band than a prog band. -------------
