A fantastic album, but I feel as though The Knife would easily win this poll, so I'll go with the other 5 very strong songs. I give it to Stagnation, a beautiful pastoral prog piece that always wows me.

First vote for it and not surprised considering how out of touch my tastes and theirs seem to be.

Looking for someone.. do doubt... loved that from first listen.  That connected very strongly.  I loved the sense of atmosphere in that one.

Typical genesis album IMO.  Great moments.. the beginning and end.. and then you have the rest of album.  Sleep inducing

The whole album is wonderful.

Sleep inducing? I'd call it atmospheric.

Foe sleep inducing see any Keith Emerson solo.

This. Although I like the music of the whole album, this song stands out for me.

Yes to 'Stagnation' - such a GREAT song!  I almost feel that they threw "The Knife" in, as a way to appeal to the protesting sentiment of the time:  1968-1970 (Definitely an anti-Vietnam War period piece; but, whether it was in Britain at the time, I don't have a clue since I am an American).  You can see why the Italians rejoiced over the album (all but "The Knife," to be sure), since it was in sync with their classical sentiments and sympathies...

OK, I'll be the odd man out on this one - Visions of Angels. White Mountain a near second.

The second ever Genesis album I heard (a Christmas present from my parents - some 40 years ago - on cassette) and I still love it.  I even like Daevid Allen's cover version of 'Visions'...

I'm going for Visions of Angels, but the whole album's superb.

Perhaps their most consistent work overall.

Stagnation is arguably the best earliest example of that classic Genesis sound, but I'm casting my vote toward the lovely Dusk, just because no one else has yet. A beautiful song, and the perfect lead to the more aggressive finale of The Knife......

Looking for Someone is my favorite on the album.  The Knife would place fourth for me.

That was the best thing about classic Genesis: they knew how to open an album. "Looking For Someone" is my top track from Trespass.

Stagnation just above Dusk. The others are somewhat behind.

The lead-off "Looking For Someone" probably, efficiently served notice that Gabriel was a singer to be reckoned with.

I do like this album a lot. It may not have such highlights as the next few albums, but all of it's songs are very good and pleasing. Perhaps indeed my favourite would be The Knife... but having that one out of the choices, I don't really remember the other songs so well as to choose one, I just remember I rather like them all.

I could easily vote for any of them as my favorite except for Visions of Angels. I ended up placing my vote for the biggest underdog here to keep it interesting — Dusk. I remember persuading my guitar teacher to figure that one out and teach it to me. Beautiful piece.

I pretty much dig the album the whole way through, so I'll give the runt of the litter, "Dusk", the nod. Short and really sweet.

A tremendous album! I'm not known as a Genesis fanboy, but this is one I pull out now and then. They're all great, and I could vote for any of these and probably be honest ...

But, Looking for Someone gets it for me. PG's vocals are just amazing on that track.

^This. Side Two is near perfection. Side One is . . . difficult to listen to knowing what the band and PG will produce in their future.

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

This is A grade Genesis. With 2 member changes for the next album they produced a C grade album with Nursery Cryme imo

In my honest opinion, Dusk is immensely underrated, while Looking for Someone and Stagnation are somewhat overrated. White Mountain trumps them all though (even though I accidentally voted Dusk, forgetting White Mountain was actually on this album LOL).
