One English and one American band, who mends lots of music styles into their uniqe fusion, also lead by a strong bass players. Mark King and Les Claypool are legends of funky bass, i really enjoy both yet they are very different, they appel to the funk and bass spirit in me.

I believe Mark King is more influencual on Les Claypool then vica versa, but both are very famous bass-player who deservs respect.

The purpose of this poll is really to attract Primus fans to listen to Level 42, amirite?

I do love what I've heard of Level 42, and Primus for the most part annoys the hell out of me, though I do have more Primus albums than Level 42 albums in my collection.  It's on my "to do" list to check out more L42. (And Killing Joke, for that matter ;o)  )

Yes

and No, there is free will invloved :)

i just made a confused poll cause i imagined Primus a 80s 90s band, i shat myself hard when i found they debuted album was in 1990, so my comparison went south quite fast, but its still a fun poll so not feel afraid to mak yourself familiar with Level 42

I was trying to get a band together in college, and the bassist and drummer were really into Level 42, and we worked on a song called "Love Games" for a while. Pity the band thing never really took off.

One of the best in the business at the time.  The bass player I knew in college was very good also, and he studied Mark King's technique very carefully.

Current King Crimson member Jakko M. Jakszyk used to play in Level 42, and Mark King guests on one track of his excellent 2006 album The Bruised Romantic Glee Club (highly recommended to fans of the Canterbury scene).

BTW, my vote goes to Level 42. Primus are interesting, but I find them a bit one-dimensional - though Les Claypool is undoubtedly a monster bassist.

Mark King ... excellent bass and vocal appearance
I adore their early productions which are more jazzy and prog related ...
