| I have seen/done several polls with some of the high profile epic, and so far, the ones that have given a closer output are CttE and Supper's Ready. The recent poll between SR and Gates to Delirium seems to be a clear victory for SR too (though GoD is making a comeback), however, Echoes was sugested in within the posts of that thread, so I thought that maybe that one could make a good match to the other two great ones. What do you think? Which one do you like better? |

"Echoes". "Supper's" wonderful, CTTE is always breathtaking, but "Echoes" is beautiful, mysterious, groovy, and legendary, all by turns.

Echoes Funny how whichever song loses this poll will get people saying, "how come nobody loves _______ ?" That's the danger of polls like these. | Echoes saves Meddle for me, but I rarely listen to it compared to the others. Not as exciting, even though it's more beautiful than the others. Close To The Edge is then the most complex but the structure is pretty poor, and there are parts I wish were longer/shorter. Obviously, I've gotta go for Supper's Ready - it's got everything you could ever want! There's all kinds of great music techniques just like CttE, with more emotional moments than Echoes, and how is it losing this poll?! |

CTTE--perfect everything--playing, groove, singing, structure, powerful Supper's Ready---nearly perfect everything---same as above. Echoes---like most Floyd very good spacey, dreaming meditative sleep inducing. PinkFloyd is a great group and own many albums but not one of my favs---they seem to play 3 chords over and over again---and blues based prog is not my fav--still a great song.

Echoes. I know that I would have voted for Suppers Ready just a couple of years ago as I got into Meddle a little late. Although probably in third place here for me Close to the Edge is still a masterpiece. -------------
